JUNNY Delivers a Dopamine Rush in San Francisco: Concert Review

JUNNY’s Dopamine tour recently came to San Francisco, and it was incredible!

We interviewed the Korean-Canadian artist when he played in Paris during his Blanc tour in 2023, and were excited to see him again.

JUNNY released his latest EP, Dopamine, in June of this year and just finished the United States leg of his tour. San Francisco was the second-to-last show, and tickets sold out! As for Dopamine, the EP includes great songs that showcase his versatility and evolution as an artist— a must-listen whether you’ve been following his career for years or just discovered his work.

The show had two openers, Donny Daydream and Don Fvbio. JUNNY’s DJ, DAUL helped set the mood in between sets as well. Donny Daydream’s song, “Pure Bliss,” particularly stood out. It was so fun to see live, and while listening to the track online after the show, you are really able to appreciate the production even more!

JUNNY opened with “Rush,” and the crowd went crazy! We were lucky to find a spot near the stage and felt the energy of the whole room throughout the show. “Not About You” from Blanc had the audience singing their hearts out as well.

“Here We Go Again” is one of our favorite songs on Dopamine, and it was even better live. This song lends itself to crowd participation, and the crowd happily obliged. It was one of the liveliest parts of the show until he sang the next song in his set– “Invitation.”

Even if you’re not familiar with JUNNY’s work, if you’re on TikTok, you’ve definitely already heard “Invitation.” It went viral upon release, and while the hype has calmed down a bit, the song still has a presence on social media.

In our 2023 interview with JUNNY, he stated that he enjoys when his fans sing in Korean, and always has the fans sing the opening line of “By My Side.” His San Francisco fans understood the assignment and not only sang the opening line but the entire song with him.

JUNNY’s song “Nostalgia,” a collaboration with Jay B of GOT7, was a highlight of the concert. The song gives a nostalgic feel production-wise even before you look up the lyrics. Experiencing the live performance after repeatedly listening to it online was very special.

After playing “Nostalgia,” he took a short break from playing his own songs to take a few audience requests. It was a treat to see him sing covers of “Beautiful” by Crush,“Because of You” by Ne-yo, and “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Giveon.

JUNNY has so many hits that soon, it’s going to be hard to play them all in one concert! He continued to play a mix of both old and new songs effortlessly and came back for a special two-song encore of “Rush” and “Invitation.” JUNNY delivered one of the best concerts we’ve been to this year, and we hope it doesn’t take him too long to come back! We will definitely be looking forward to his next tour.
