Hottest Movie Releases To End 2024

This year has been a supreme one for the film industry. With fantastic films such as: Challengers, Deadpool and Wolverine, Dune: Part Two, The Fall Guy, A Quiet Place: Day One, Alien Romulus and so much more.

Now I know you might be wondering: What other movie hits are coming to the big screen in the next few months? And we have some answers.

So here’s what’s in store for us in the movie industry in the last few months of 2024!

September:

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

This sequel to the popular film Beetlejuice, which was released in 1988, is set to hit theaters September 6, 2024. According to Screenrant, the film will follow the Deetz clan as a sudden tragedy occurs while Astrid, the daughter of Lydia, will open a portal that leads to the underworld which of course will ensue in some chaos. The legendary Michael Keaton will reprise his role of the titular character Beetlejuice while the fantastic Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara are also set to return. We are also going to see some fresh faces as a nice addition to the cast such as Jenna Ortega as Astrid and Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson.

October:

Joker: Folie à Deux

Sure his name is Joker, but this movie is no joke. Joaquin Phoenix is returning to the titular role in this sequel of Joker, but accompanied with a partner this time around. That’s right, the icon herself Lady Gaga will be playing Phoenix’s love interest in the movie starring as Harley Quinn. According to Elle, the official synopsis of this continuation is set to pick up right after the first movie ended (if you haven’t seen it and don’t want spoilers, probably skip this section for now) where Arthur Fleck, played by Phoenix is a failed comedian who suffers from mental health issues which causes him to have fits of laughter. Tragically, after suffering the loss of his mother and being tormented by bullies, Fleck takes a less than ideal path. Catch up on the first installment before this sequel is released on October 4, 2024.

We Live In Time

Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield will lead this Romantic Drama that will be released October 11, 2024. According to A24, We Live In Time will follow Pugh and Garfield’s characters, Almut and Tobias, as they meet and come together in an impactful way while navigating trials and tribulations in their love story. This film is directed by John Crowley with music from Bryce Dessner. Be prepared to laugh, cry and just feel something when We Live In Time finally premieres.

November:

Wicked

This movie is sure to change us “For Good” when it finally hits theaters this November. The highly anticipated movie musical adapted from the famous long running Broadway musical of the same name has teased audiences with snippets of behind the scenes content with the cast and a full length trailer that looks absolutely magical. Speaking of the cast, Broadway kid turned Grammy award winning pop sensation Ariana Grande will be playing the bubbly good witch Glinda while Tony, Grammy and Emmy award winner Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba. The cast also includes: Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, and more.

Moana 2

It seems the ocean is calling us back to the theaters for the sequel to Disney’s smash hit Moana. With Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson both returning to their roles of Moana and Maui with brand new original music written by Grammy award winning duo Emily Bear and Abigail Barlow, this soon to be Disney classic is sure to bring us more fun and heart just like its predecessor. We can’t leave the ocean and the voyagers waiting! Moana 2 hits theaters November 27, 2024.

Gladiator 2

Get ready to see some bloody arena fighting at the Colosseum with this action movie hitting our screens November 22, 2024. Gladiator 2 is a sequel to Ridley Scott’s film Gladiator over 20 years later with the original installment having been released in 2000. Good news for die-hard Gladiator fans, not only has Scott directed this sequel but the cast is absolutely stacked! Paul Mescal will play Lucius, Denzel Washington stars as Macrinus while Pedro Pascal plays Marcus Acacius. All I can say is, get ready to head to Rome come late November!

December:

Kraven the Hunter

This action sci-fi movie based off of the Marvel comics will feature Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Hunter. Directed by J.C. Chandor with the story by Richard Wenk, from the freshly released trailer Kraven the Hunter seems well I’ll just say, very dark. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this film will focus on the villain Kraven who originally debuted in the 1964 comics as Spider-Man’s transgressor. The cast also features Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose and many more. If you’re a fan of the comics, Marvel or really dig action and sci-fi movies, this film might be made just for you. Don’t miss its release on December 13, 2024.
