This has been a whirlwind of a weekend for Beyoncé fans. It all started on Sunday with the announcement we’ve all been waiting for—that was followed by the award we’ve been waiting for. And now the Beyhive is in a frenzy, buzzing all over social media.
Tour Announcement
Not long after midnight, on Sunday morning, Beyoncé finally made her announcement. Originally meant for January 14, fans were pleasantly surprised to wake up to, drum roll, please… a tour announcement! That’s right! The Cowboy Carter Tour is slated to take place this year. But, aside from her Instagram post, which consisted of just the tour title, there was no more information available. Instead, she left fans filled with a mix of excitement and angst.
Grammy Win
The 67th GRAMMY Awards also took place on Sunday and admittedly Beyoncé fans were on pins and needles wondering if she’d win any of the categories she was nominated for. This included the coveted Album of the Year award for COWBOY CARTER. Well, last night was a night for the BeyHive. For the first time, Beyoncé won Album of the Year. She also won Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II MOST WANTED” featuring Miley Cyrus. It was a great night that felt well-deserved and long overdue.
Tour Dates & Locations
On Monday right after her win, she celebrated by releasing the official tour poster listing all the cities she intends to visit. Or at least it felt like a celebration to us. This caused another mix of emotions for fans. But you can’t help but notice she’s visiting significantly fewer cities. She’ll be visiting Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, Paris, Houston, Washington, DC, Las Vegas, and Atlanta. She’s calling it a circuit tour, short for Chitlin’ Circuit, which was a network of venues that allowed Black American musicians to perform during the Jim Crow era. Leave it to Beyoncé to include a piece of Black American history in everything that she does. Her tour stops also seem to be more focused around centralized locations like the west coast, east coast, and southern coast. But have no fear! Each location will have multiple shows. So, hopefully, this will help with the mass hysteria often associated with her tours. We can only hope.
There you have it! Beyoncé started the month of February with a bang! The Cowboy Carter Tour will kick off in Los Angeles on April 28. And the Grammys were nothing short of magical.
General ticket sales start next week, February 14, via Live Nation. If you’re in true support and genuinely love COWBOY CARTER, you’ll love this tour.
